I generally do not paint recognizable objects. My current artistic passion is exploring color and movement with alcohol ink paints. The style is Abstract Surrealism. My paintings are colorful fantasies, without a narrative, to be experienced viscerally. They evoke emotion, from fiery passions to deep relaxation. I like creating pieces that have enough complexity and interest that the viewer continues to discover something new about them over time.
Working with alcohol inks is an interactive process where the inks influence the outcome almost as much as I do. I never know how a painting will turn out when I begin. The challenge is in the flow and blending of the inks. It is a controlled spontaneity which creates the layers of expressive movement.
